Just a glimpse of me...

Do you ever feel STUCK? In 2000, I began looking for answers to some tough questions in my life. I'd searched high & low and finally conceded to search the promises found in the Bible. Those promises have sustained & guided me through the loss of a parent, the struggle with anxiety & depression, the loss of a valued relationship and so much more! I've found joy amid the pain. And, I want to share it with you!

Struggling to Do It ALL!

I'm a wife, a mom, & a DeeDee (my g'mommy name). I'm a daughter, a sister & a friend. I'm a volunteer, a blogger & a somewhat-but-hopefully-not-totally-addicted social media person. Putting all of those things together (as is the series title for this month) is a daunting challenge. But, the worst thing of all is... I'm an over-achiever.

My childhood, youth & adulthood have been riddled with me feeling insecure and struggling
to prove myself & to please others. I fight the desire to say YES to every good opportunity which comes along. I can't seem to get it in my head that no one is capable of doing every good thing that comes along each day. We each need to pick & choose. I want to be better at everything I do -- even the things which don't come easily at all for me. I have a tough time choosing what to do & what not to do. And, my "TO DO LIST" is always a mile long.

This quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson really hit a nerve when I saw it the other day...
"It is easy to live for others, everybody does. I call on you to live for yourself." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
It struck a nerve but, I quickly managed to breeze over it with the attitude that the quote could really help someone else with their struggles. After all, by this age, I certainly must have all that figured out... right?

And then I ran into another zinger the very next day. Could it be that I need these reminders myself today? Could it be that these two quotes will only minister to ME today? Could it be that I need to consider helping myself & not worrying about how what I write will impact my audience... today??? All great questions to ask myself. As for the zinger...
Stop comparing yourself with anybody. Compare yourself with yourself, for yourself and by yourself. We are uniquely pottered and purposed by our maker! ~ Ifeanyi Enoch Onuoha
