Just a glimpse of me...

Do you ever feel STUCK? In 2000, I began looking for answers to some tough questions in my life. I'd searched high & low and finally conceded to search the promises found in the Bible. Those promises have sustained & guided me through the loss of a parent, the struggle with anxiety & depression, the loss of a valued relationship and so much more! I've found joy amid the pain. And, I want to share it with you!

sunrise thoughts 17 October 2015

Saturday Sunrise Selfie
Saturday sunrises... how do YOU feel about a Saturday sunrise compared to those of the other days of the week?

Saturday is the ONE day a week that the LOML & I might get a chance to sleep in. And, it's pretty much the only day each week we have a chance to actually relax together as we have our morning coffee. A lot of Saturdays aren't like that with firm plans already made for the beginning of the day.

But today... we'd decided to take a slower start to the day. We knew the rest of the day would be full of hard, physical work - possibly going into the evening. The weather is changing and, there's a lot to be done on the property before winter!

However... there's that #write31days thing happening.
And, being the over-achiever I am... I really wanted to get a few sunrise shots to share. I threw a hoodie & sweat pants on over my pj's and ran out to the back 40 to catch some sunrise shots. It was so cold out that the hood came up almost immediately. Unfortunately, I could tell that if I wanted to get the "prettiest" pictures I'd be out there for quite awhile. Grrrrr!

I thought for a few moments & made a judgement call. I took 4-5 shots and ran back inside to the warmth. I took the outside clothes off & crawled back under the cozy blankets beside the LOML to wait for morning coffee. There will be other days to linger outside as the sunrise changes & becomes more vibrant.

And seriously... when you get a chance to spend some quality time with a loved one... you should take it!

There's an Ann Voskamp quote that I really like about priorities:

PRESENCE makes your life into a greater gift than PRODUCTIVITY.

  2. Love the quote! We get so caught up in always working when we should be focusing on being present and loving every moment with loved ones. Beautiful Sunrise! I wish I got enough sleep to wake up early and enjoy one.

    1. So true Ludavia! It's easy to get caught up in the productivity... and in goals that we set for ourselves which don't necessarily have to be met... that we sacrifice connection, presence, etc.

Have a GREAT rest of the weekend!!

    1. Thanks Larissa :) Being the over-achiever "type" that I am, I often have to remind myself to linger with my loved ones - especially the grown-up ones. I don't seem to have a problem lingering with our Little :) She's 2yrs & 9 months. We can't seem to get enough of her - ha ha!! Have a blessed Sunday! Thank you for reading & posting here.

    1. Thanks Tara :) The LOML (aka, my hubby) has told me over & over again that it would sure be nice if I could make a little money along the way with all my pictures. But... so far it hasn't happened. That doesn't stop me from taking them though. And, as for Ann Voskamp, God has given her a way with words that, to me, is magical. I started counting #1000gifts with them in 2012 & have loved that experience!
