Just a glimpse of me...

Do you ever feel STUCK? In 2000, I began looking for answers to some tough questions in my life. I'd searched high & low and finally conceded to search the promises found in the Bible. Those promises have sustained & guided me through the loss of a parent, the struggle with anxiety & depression, the loss of a valued relationship and so much more! I've found joy amid the pain. And, I want to share it with you!

The Value of FREE Things

The weather is NOT cooperating... for mowing lawns... for the farmers needing to bring in the harvest... for those of us who want to exercise outside! This was the second morning this week that we've tried to get back in from our morning walks before being caught by the rain. Yesterday I was pretty soaked by the time I returned to my house. This morning I was running extremely late to meet up with my friend. It would seem that someone just piled all the WET walking clothes, gloves, etc. in a heap on the laundry room floor. And, 53 degrees with a chance of rain is NOT a time to go on a walkabout without the proper attire.

As I approached my friend's drive to meet her, I was rushing & frustrated that I was once again late! I was a bit distracted & surprised as she lifted her arms to hand me a beautifully filled box. Aside from some tissue paper peeking out of the box, EVERYTHING INSIDE had come from either her garden or her yard. She apologized that she was a few days late in celebrating my birthday and that her "home-made" gift was all "free" stuff. I squealed with delight and shouted...
"The best things in life are FREE! You could not have given me a better gift to celebrate my birthday! I love birthday surprises any day!!"
I gave her a big hug & we headed down the road chatting about all the things girlfriends do when they are walking down winding country roads... including, but not limited to, "grocery-getters", "boyfriend in a bottle" and other country-living terms :)

#JoyDare No. 3037. Happy Birthday to me... from my friend, neighbor & walking partner. Filled with things from her garden & yard #thebestthingsinlifearefree
