Just a glimpse of me...

My photo
Do you ever feel STUCK? In 2000, I began looking for answers to some tough questions in my life. I'd searched high & low and finally conceded to search the promises found in the Bible. Those promises have sustained & guided me through the loss of a parent, the struggle with anxiety & depression, the loss of a valued relationship and so much more! I've found joy amid the pain. And, I want to share it with you!

sunrise thoughts 31 October 2015

SUNRISE THOUGHTS... What comes to your mind at the beginning of the day?

It was nothing special; rather mundane; pretty boring. It wasn't what I was hoping for on the last day of my
#write31days posts.

But, this morning's sunrise brought me a new day with new opportunities...

* for loved ones to be near,
* for good things to happen,
* for things to be accomplished,
* for me to learn, grow and change,
* for me to make a difference in my world.

Whether we wake up with a gorgeous sunrise or with a sky full of black clouds with wind & rain pounding against the window, each new day is a gift. Whether we wake up with a full calendar or an empty slate, each new day is a gift. Whether we wake up grieving from what happened yesterday or bursting with joy over what yesterday brought, each new day is a gift. The beginning of each new day represents a gift being placed in our hands.

Are you familiar with the old saying...
"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

Well, a gift horse is a horse that was a gift, quite simply. When given a horse, it would be bad manners to inspect the horse's mouth to see if it has bad teeth. This can be applied as an analogy to any gift:
Don't inspect it to make sure it
matches some standard you have,
just be grateful!

Enjoy the gift that's given to you with each new day. Today is a gift... that's why it's call the present :)

Here are a few pics from my GIFT...today. I worked beside the LOML for over 8 hours in our barn getting a winter retreat ready for our laying hens. I'll post pics of the completed project in the next week or so...

  1. Wow girl! You get a lot done in a day! I loved your post. Every day is a gift for us to embrace. And thank you for the history lesson as well - I didn't know that about inspecting his mouth! This was an encouragement for me.
We did it!!! So glad I met you, Caitlyn, I've enjoyed your series! :)
