It was cool, windy & rainy throughout the night with the temps barely reaching the low 50's. I heated up a dish of homemade apple sauce and donned a baseball cap, waterproof jacket and boots. I headed
out the back door. Three of the five girls were huddled together in "the spa" and came running toward me as they heard me approach. The other 2 joined them at the end of their run by the time I made it to them.
There was no visible sunrise. Yet, as we all know, the sun rises triumphantly -- even on cloudy days :) I handed in the bowl of warm applesauce to my biggest fans, snapped a pic of the barren field just past the pine grove & went to gather the eggs that might be there so early in the day. There were four eggs already! Pretty decent for just a few minutes after the scheduled time of sunrise. And, two of the four were warm... very warm. Just laid. It doesn't get much fresher than that!

ReplyDeleteThree more days... three more days :) Yep, I will make it. This is a crazy time of year to wait & write a post after I see the sunrise each day! I'm going with an evening topic next year - ha ha! Thanks for your support & encouragement Susan. God bless!
DeleteLove how you went with the flow. My thoughts have been random these days too so I appreciate your honesty here. I was wondering where in Indiana you live since I live in Cincinnati, we may live somewhat close to each other. Love your series.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Mary! It's been crazy to write off the cuff every day after the sunrise... but, I've enjoyed it. We're from central Indiana -- only 2+ hours from Cinci :)
