Just a glimpse of me...

My photo
Do you ever feel STUCK? In 2000, I began looking for answers to some tough questions in my life. I'd searched high & low and finally conceded to search the promises found in the Bible. Those promises have sustained & guided me through the loss of a parent, the struggle with anxiety & depression, the loss of a valued relationship and so much more! I've found joy amid the pain. And, I want to share it with you!

sunrise thoughts 13 October 2015

Autumn colors are starting to pop in the land of stuckinindiana and, there's nothing like the rising sun to highlight those colors. Even when the "rising sun" is hidden behind thick clouds, beautiful colors become obvious with the slightest hints of light each day.

We don't have the breath-taking beauty of the mountains with beautiful vistas as their foliage changes colors or the beauty of the northeast with a variety of topography & foliage. We no longer have the sunrises over the Atlantic Ocean, as we did when we lived in southeast Florida. We cherish our memories of the beautiful views we had when we were growing up in the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. And, we have BEAUTY right now... where we are now!

Many people think that the name "stuckinindiana" indicates that we'd rather not be here... that we are unhappily stuck here. Nope, we believe & feel that we are stuck right where we are supposed to be at this time in our lives. And, we won't let the breath-taking beauty of other places steal our appreciation of the beauty that surrounds us right here.

So, my thought this morning would be:
Don't underestimate the value of the beauty to be found... right where you are now!

  1. I think the midwest during harvest is gorgeous. I have enjoyed dropping my husband off at work in the country every morning and enjoying the beautiful colors against the sunrise.

    1. It's a beauty that many don't see & appreciate. It's easy for me to get caught up in the "glamorous places" with their "glamorous sunrises"... but, our still take my breath away :D Thanks for stopping by Melissa!!! Hugs!!

  2. Wow That is a powerful message. I'm in a season of wanting to be somewhere else and the Lord is clearly not making that happen right now so I definitely am in need of some heart change. And, from your pics, where you are is beautiful!

  3. I've lived in five different cities, and I've found all of them beautiful. Your post reminds me of a Japanese proverb, "Sumeba miyako," which roughly means, "The place where we live is the best city." :-)

    1. LOVE that quote! I'm going to pair it up with a pic & use it on my "stuckinindiana" page :) I appreciate you taking time to read & comment Romi. October is a crazy month for me... so time management is rough - ha ha!

  4. Nice! This seems to be a theme for today, because one of my five I had to read was actually titled "Bloom Where You Are"! (http://passagethroughgrace.com/bloom-where-you-are-day-13) God must be trying to pass the message along to all of us! Thanks for sharing and for the reminder to not let the beauty of other places take away our appreciation for where we are! Leslie
