My "JoyDare" from a few weeks back. |
Today will be the first weekday in quite awhile that I won't be getting ready to drive over to my friends house to keep her company as she prepares to meet the Lord. She went to be in His arms early Saturday evening. Her diagnosis 5 months ago took us all by surprise. But, she didn't seem to skip a beat as she put everything in place for her passing. If this was her time to leave this earth in God's plan, she was okay with that. She didn't want to die. She'd leave a grieving husband & many grieving friends. But, she had a peace about whatever God's plan was. And, she wanted to
share that peace with everyone.
At the conclusion of church yesterday our Worship Arts pastor announced her heavenly home-going & suggested that some might want to light a candle in honor of her life and the Light that she shared with this world. I made my way forward & joined a long line waiting my chance to thank God for her life. When it was finally my turn and with another dozen or so behind me, I found that all the candles were already lit :)
Yesterday was a day of mourning that the lady "who always had a smile & hug for everyone in the commons area outside our main auditorium each time the church doors opened" wasn't with us any more. But, more than that, yesterday was a day of celebration... of a life well lived, that her suffering was over & that her life reflected the Light of Christ to the very end.
I learned a lot about living & dying from my sweet friend.
I wonder what she's doing today... on her first Monday in heaven :)
What a wonderful question Cyndee! Blessing upon her grieving husband
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Christa :) I'm sure prayers are appreciated by her hubby.
DeleteI love that you can celebrate her eternal life, instead of just focusing on her earthly passing. I have been following her story, and what a wonderful friend you were to her. :)
ReplyDeleteShe had her service totally planned out a month or more before she passed. Her number one goal to focus on was the saving grace of Christ. The service was to be a time of rejoicing for her obtaining the goal that she desired & that it was available to everyone!
